Unit 10 · October

Beautiful Change

A time for every season

Scripture & Jesus with us

“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens.”

— Ecclesiastes 3:1

Change is not a mistake. God authored seasons.

“We are being transformed into his image with ever-increasing glory.”

— 2 Corinthians 3:18

Jesus changes us slowly, like leaves turning.

“Forget the former things… See, I am doing a new thing!”

— Isaiah 43:18–19

Some things we release so the new thing can come.

Three-class breakdown

Class 1 — Wonder & Observation

Collect fallen leaves (no stripping live branches). Notice color, spots, beauty in letting go.

Class 2 — Scripture & Teaching

Seasons. We do not cling to a green leaf forever. Jesus walks with us through change.

Class 3 — Creation Response

Make a Letting Go Leaf Garland — each leaf named with a thanks or a gentle goodbye.

Signature take-home

Letting Go Leaf Garland

  1. Gather fallen leaves.
  2. On each, write or draw one thanks or one thing you can release to God.
  3. String them with twine.
  4. Hang where the family will see it this month.

Parent tips

Keep it gentle. Children need not carry adult burdens. “We can thank God and let some things rest.”

Journal: One leaf drawing. One sentence of thanks for a change that was good.
