Lesson 09 · 15–20 minutes · 5–12 years
Insects and Small Things – God’s Tiny Wonders
Supplies
- Children’s sunflower cups
- Optional: magnifying glass, or a short outdoor bug-noticing time
Opening
2–3 minutes“Small bugs and insects! God made even the tiniest things amazing. Today we look at the little creatures that often go unnoticed.”
Interactive Teaching
7–8 minutesRead Proverbs 6:6 (the ant).
“God made insects with special designs. Ants work hard and plan ahead. Bees make honey and help plants grow by carrying pollen. Even the smallest bug has a purpose in God’s creation.”
“Go to the ant… consider its ways and be wise.”
— Proverbs 6:6
Hands-On Activity
5 minutesIf possible, go outside for a short “tiny wonders” walk. Look under a leaf or near the plants for insects. Or use a magnifying glass on a picture or a safe outdoor find. Talk about one amazing design they notice.
Closing
2 minutesGod cares for small things and for you. The next time you see a bug or a butterfly, stop and notice. It is another fingerprint of the Creator.
Closing prayer
Lead the children, having them repeat after you.
Dear God,
Thank You for tiny creatures that show Your wonder.
Thank You that nothing is too small for Your care.
Help us notice the little things You made.
Amen.
Take-home sheet
What I learned
God made even the smallest insects with purpose and design. Nothing is too tiny for His care — and that includes me.
Care for the sunflower
- Keep the soil just right
- Watch for any tiny visitors (bugs or bees)
Verse to remember
“Go to the ant… consider its ways and be wise.” — Proverbs 6:6
My job this week
Look for one small creature outside. Thank God for the tiny wonders He made.
Parent note
Take a short “tiny wonders” walk. Point out an ant, a butterfly, or a bee. Talk about how God notices the small things and notices your child.
