Weather and Seasons – God’s Faithful Care

Supplies

  • Children’s sunflower cups

Opening

2–3 minutes

“Look outside. Is it sunny, cloudy, windy, or rainy? God made the weather, and He uses it to care for the earth — and for your sunflower.”

Interactive Teaching

7–8 minutes

Read Genesis 8:22.

“Seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night will not cease as long as the earth remains. God made the sun to give light and warmth. He sends the rain to water the earth. The clouds, the wind, the changing seasons — all of them show His faithful care.”

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest, cold and heat, summer and winter, day and night, shall not cease.”

— Genesis 8:22

Hands-On Activity

5 minutes

Talk about today’s weather. Have children share one thing they notice (sun, clouds, wind). If possible, step outside briefly and feel the air. Connect it back to the plant: “This is the same sun and rain God is using to grow your sunflower.”

Closing

2 minutes

God uses weather to care for us. Knowing that He controls the seasons and loves you can bring peace even when the sky is gray. We plant. God makes it grow — and He is faithful through every season.

Closing prayer

Lead the children, having them repeat after you.

Dear God,

Thank You for weather and seasons that show Your care.

Thank You for rain and sun that help things grow.

Thank You for loving us through every kind of day.

Amen.

Take-home sheet

What I learned

God made the weather and the seasons. He uses sun and rain to care for plants and for us. He is faithful through every kind of day.

Care for the sunflower

  • Water when the soil feels dry
  • Make sure it gets good light

Verse to remember

“While the earth remains, seedtime and harvest… shall not cease.” — Genesis 8:22

My job this week

Notice the weather each day and thank God for one way He is caring for creation (and for me).

Parent note

Talk about today’s weather. Ask: “How does knowing God controls the seasons help when a day feels hard?” Connect it to the plant’s need for sun and rain.
