Lesson 06 · 15–20 minutes · 5–12 years
The Human Body – Fearfully and Wonderfully Made
Supplies
- Children’s sunflower cups
- Optional: a simple mirror
Opening
2–3 minutes“Today we get to look at the most personal part of God’s creation — us! Our bodies. God made every part with care and purpose.”
Interactive Teaching
7–8 minutesRead Psalm 139:13–14 gently.
“God says He formed us and knit us together. We are fearfully and wonderfully made. Think about your hands — they can plant a seed, hold a cup, wave hello. Your eyes can see the green of a leaf and the yellow of a sunflower. Your ears can hear a bird sing. Your heart beats without you telling it to.”
“All of these things work together because God designed them. Just like the DNA in a seed tells it exactly what to become, God designed your body with perfect purpose. You are not an accident.”
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.”
— Psalm 139:14
Hands-On Activity
5 minutesHave the children look at their own hands. Count fingers. Feel a heartbeat. Notice how their eyes can see the plant they have been caring for.
“Thank God for one part of your body right now.”
Closing
2 minutesYour body is a gift from God. We take care of it the same way we take care of our sunflower — with gentleness and gratitude. We plant. God makes it grow. And He is still growing you.
Closing prayer
Lead the children, having them repeat after you.
Dear God,
Thank You that I am fearfully and wonderfully made.
Thank You for my hands, my eyes, my heart.
Help me take good care of the body You gave me.
Amen.
Take-home sheet
What I learned
God made my body with care and purpose. I am fearfully and wonderfully made. He knows every detail about me.
Care for the sunflower
- Keep the soil moist and give it sunshine
- Notice how it is growing stronger
Verse to remember
“I will praise You, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made.” — Psalm 139:14
My job this week
Thank God for one part of my body (hands, eyes, heart). Take good care of myself the same way I care for my plant.
Parent note
Look in a mirror together or hold hands. Talk about how God designed every part with purpose. Remind your child they are not an accident.
