Unit 02 · February
Love Written in Creation
Relationships & Stewardship
Scripture & Jesus with us
“God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.”
— Genesis 1:31Jesus invites us to look at creation the way the Father does — with delight.
“Look at the birds… Consider the lilies…”
— Matthew 6:26–30Jesus points to creation to teach us we are deeply cared for.
“Dear friends, let us love one another, for love comes from God.”
— 1 John 4:7–8Caring for creation is one way we practice loving like God loves.
Three-class breakdown
Class 1 — Wonder & Observation
A slow “love walk.” Each person finds one thing in creation that looks like love (a pair of birds, a strong tree, two leaves together) and shares why.
Class 2 — Scripture & Teaching
Read the passages. Talk about how Jesus uses birds and flowers to tell us we are loved. Object lesson: two leaves — one cared for, one neglected.
Class 3 — Creation Response
Each family chooses a Creation Care Heart — a tree, garden bed, or windowsill herb to tend. Weekly ritual: visit, water, pray, leave a small note of thanks.
Signature take-home
Creation Care Heart — Adopt a Living Thing
- Choose a living thing together and name it.
- Make a small heart tag: “We love you because God loves you.”
- Visit at least three times this month.
- Each visit: water gently, touch gently, say a short thank-you prayer.
Parent tips
This is not a chore — it is a relationship. “What does this tree need from us?” Bring a photo back for a community Creation Care Wall.
Journal: Weekly log: date, what we did for our Heart, one sentence of thanks, a small drawing.
